They say nobody lives there.

Rose does.

Her bedroom window

On the second floor?

She peeks from it.

Her voice echoes,

Calls me,

Each time the wind blows.

Her ghost walks

Haunts my dreams, at night;

Haunts the house

Next door to mine, by day.

I see her laughing,

Running on the lawn.

The swing creaks.

No longer there,

On the porch,

Where we shared it.

But I hear it.

Is she in that other world?

The afterlife?  Oh, no!

She's merely in another place.

Another world besides mine.

She's merely another person now.

One who does not love me.
