Glamour magazine features seven beautiful plus-sized models this month — a slap in the face of the fashion industry, who often seems to think that most women are a size 2. But Glamour is launching the Bodies are Beautiful at Every Size Campaign. So take that, fashion world!
In the photo, from far left: Crystal Renn, Amy Lemons, Ashley Graham, Kate Dillon, Anansa Sims and Jennie Runk. Bottom Center: Lizzie Miller.
It’s part of what Glamour is calling the Body Image Revolution. And it all started when an un-Photoshopped image of a normal-sized girl (Lizzie Miller) was published back in their September issue. This plus-sized model was photographed au naturel, with even a little belly fat hanging over. Here’s the photo to the left.
As expected, this stand by Glamour has gotten a lot of attention. Some think it’s great that normal-sized women are being featured in such a prominent magazine. But others think that belly rolls and all the rest are unhealthy standards and that women might think they can exercise less and eat worse if the ladies in the fashion magazines are, too.
What do you think of the Body Image Revolution? Oh, and just a final fact: the most popular American dress size for women is a size 14.
