Glee has just wrapped up season three, but fans know the series will be back in the fall. In fact, writing on the fourth season has just begun. Ryan Murphy spoke of season four of the series and the impact The Glee Project will have on it next season. Three new members of the cast have also stepped up and signed on to mentor that reality series this season, and one more has agreed to return for another go around.
Fans have already seen Lea Michele mentor this season, and Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera are also set to appear, but now Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, and Amber Riley have all stepped up to the plate. Darren Criss will also appear on season two. Whoever manages to win at the end of the reality series, they will have a multi-episode arc on the next season of the Fox series.
As for the Fox series, now is the time decisions about season four are being made. Murphy said the following about what is currently happening to characters like Mercedes and Mike as work begins on season four, according to The Hollywood Reporter:
“We’re literally just writing the first script now. We’re figuring out who’s doing what, who’s coming back. I want them to come back, I think it’ll be a different way. We haven’t figured it out but I know what the stories are, I just don’t know how many episodes. We want to keep all our options open. I think I have to talk to the actors and say, ‘What do you want to do?’ That’s how we’ve been dealing with it. I’ve only talked to Lea so far. That’s all happening in the next two weeks.”
Lea Michele has already said she was excited about what is in store for season four for her character. Amber Riley already said her good-bye to Mercedes when she filmed her last episode, so it would not be too surprising to not see her return to the series in season four. Her character headed out west to Los Angeles to focus on career opportunities there.
Ryan Murphy is hard at work though. What will he think of next? Are you excited for the return of this series to Fox in the fall?
