The 2011 Oscar Nominations are coming soon! Now that the Golden Globes winners are official, and the shiny gold trophies have been handed out, the next order of entertainment business will be the biggest awards show in Hollywood.

The 2011 Oscar nominees will be announced on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, and then the actual show will take place on February 27, 2011 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, California.

83rd Academy Awards poster.jpgAccording to last night’s Golden Globes report from Washington Post, the majority of award winners have followed suit from awards show to awards show.

The Facebook story of Mark Zuckerberg in “The Social Network” continues to win Best Picture awards. Last night, “The Kids Are All Right” also won a Best Picture award at the Golden Globes in the comedy or musical category.

Other movies which have continually been in contention include “The Fighter,” “The King’s Speech,” “Black Swan” and “Inception.”

Annette Bening, Natalie Portman, Colin Firth and Christian Bale are among the actors to continue winning awards. Expect to see all of these names on the Oscar nominations list in a week or so. Still, don’t let that ruin the excitement that watching the spectacle of an awards show brings.

Could the Academy Awards show have some surprises in store? Will “Inception” steal the big Best Picture win? That’s not so likely. It is possible for some onstage surprises with Anne Hathaway and James Franco as the co-hosts.

However, the Oscar nominations for 2011 will follow the format of the two previous award shows: the Critics’ Choice and the Golden Globes. Johny Depp and Angelina Jolie can only hope that somehow “The Tourist” sneaks into the nominees, once again.
