goodbye my long lost friend

Rest well, Ric my old friend

your days now are at an end

as you slumber for a space

you passed on with such grace.

I remember in sports you were surely driven

you were voted the flirt, prettiest eyes were a given.

Popular with the girls, the guys were your mates

you never had to worry, you had all the dates!

Football, basketball, baseball and track

you succeeded in sports and had your friends’ back!

It’s been a long time since seventy four

I saw you just this year, you said you had no more.

The rattling cough, the smell of whiskey

burning cigarettes that you knew were risky.

You had given up hope of an extended stay

but enjoyed what you had until the last day.

Sweet goodbyes to the most popular guy!
