Polyamory, or “having multiple romantic and sexual partners in an open relationship,” was touted as an alternative to traditional marriage on ABC news this week, confirming that the degradation of the traditional family unit is in full effect.
Move over gay marriage! As reported by Scott Whitlock of Newsbusters on Thursday, Nightline’s Co-anchor Dan Harris asked for viewers to be open minded by saying,
“Just for a minute, let’s do a thought experiment. Let’s set aside all of the emotion and consider whether the evangelists for open marriage might have a point.”
Whitlock explains that ABC journalist Nick Watt “profiled Michael, Kamela and Rachel,” who raise a child but have “sex with numerous people.”
“They’re spreading the gospel of polyamory, hoping to speed up societal acceptance of this kind of set-up,” ABC’s Nick Watt explained. “Most marriages in America do end in divorce, so maybe adding other lovers to the mix could improve the odds.”
The New York Daily News wrote about the happy family, who insists that the arrangement benefits their 6 year-old son, Devin. Brushing off concerns of Devin having to explain the lifestyle, they say in ten years, their polyamorous relationship will be the “new paradigm.” Perhaps when Devin is old enough, he can join in the fun!
Not surprisingly, the academic research finds that children do not fare well in non-traditional homes, in comparison to their peers who are brought up with loving parents.
Back in March, the author reflected on a question asked by Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who was questioning former U.S. Solicitor General Ted Olson, a pro-gay marriage Republican.
Sotomayor inquired, “If gay marriage is legal, what about polygamy?” She said,
“If you say that marriage is a fundamental right, what state restrictions could ever exist?”
It seems as though Sotomayor had a valid point, after all.
