Green Bay is a very young team and has a chance to repeat as the NFL Champions in 2011. Free agency will cost the Packers several players this off-season as teams look to add talent from the Super Bowl Champs.
The Packers have several needs and they should use their round one and two picks to address those needs. With the later round picks the Packers can add depth and players that can contribute on special teams. The thinking here is that with their third round selection, Green Bay can add a skilled position player on offense and give an added weapon to QB Aaron Rodgers.
RB Shane Vereen – California: Vereen is a versatile back with good speed and vision. At 5’10” and 205 pounds, Vereen has a low center of gravity, but good strength. A kick returner for most of his career at Cal, he could be another solid weapon on offense for the Packers.
RB Delone Carter – Syracuse: Carter led the Orange to a bowl victory this past season. Carter is a solid 225 pounds on a 5’9” frame with 4.5 speed. Carter finished his career third all-time in rushing at Syracuse despite of playing a couple years on a very poor team.
WR Vincent Brown – SDSU: Brown is moving up the draft boards and with good reason. With good overall speed, Brown was a deep threat while at SDSU and is a very solid receiver. At 5’11” he is not an over the middle type receiver, but the Packers already have those type of receivers on their roster.
