Greg Oden Heading to Indiana Pacers or San Antonio Spurs?

Greg Oden rumors link the center to the Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs and Orlando Magic now. Though his career didn’t really pan out while he was with the Portland Trail Blazers, Oden would certainly like to turn the page and get back on a basketball court somewhere.

According to Sam Amico, those are the three teams serving as the frontrunners for Oden this offseason. He is an unrestricted free agent after getting released by the Blazers, so he is free to sign with any franchise that is willing to give his knees another chance. Oden certainly won’t score a huge payday, but that doesn’t mean he won’t find a job.

After becoming the No. 1 pick of the 2007 NBA Draft (ahead of Kevin Durant), Oden only played in 82 games for the Blazers over five years. That’s not very good, but when he was on the court, Oden was definitely a good contributor. He has career averages of 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Those are stats from a center that any team would like to have.

The best thing working for Oden is that he is only 24 years old still, so he could potentially have a long NBA career still in front of him. If he could just stay healthy for a full season, his size alone could make him an impact player in the low post. Now everyone will have to wait and see which team is most desperate for a big man to come off the bench next season.

What do you think about these Greg Oden rumors? Do you think that he would be a good fit for the Indiana Pacers to come off the bench behind Roy Hibbert?
