‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 9 Spoilers: Will Mark Survive?

Grey’s Anatomy season 8 ended with Lexie dead and the other survivors of the plane crash not looking so good, especially Mark and Arizona. They were the most severely injured of those still alive, and Mark was already giving up. Will they make it out of the woods and back to Seattle?

Grey’s Season 9 Spoilers

According to a tweet from William Keck of TV Guide, “I spoke with #ericdane last night who told me he still doesn’t know if Mark will make it out of the woods alive.” It’s the question everyone wants to know the answer of—who will still be around in Grey’s Anatomy season 9? Spoilers are very scarce, but there’s plenty of speculation going on. Shonda Rhimes has said that someone else could die, and considering the condition Mark was in when season 8 ended, it wouldn’t be too surprising if he didn’t make it.

Arizona did get him to hold on in the season 8 finale, but there’s only so long they can last out there—and she wasn’t looking too good either. They’re all hungry and they’re all cold, but injury-wise, Mark and Arizona were in the worst shape, and so if the series did kill one of them off, it wouldn’t be too surprising. The other three—Meredith, Derek, and Cristina—do seem safe since the actors did just sign contracts, and, while injured, none of them seemed anywhere near as bad as the other two.

However, would they really kill off two couples—Mark and Lexie and Arizona and Callie—in one plane crash? Would they really kill off both Mark and Lexie? That would be shocking, especially since by killing Lexie off, they opened themselves up to a storyline of Mark grieving for her and how everyone around him reacts to that. They could decide to not go that route like is expected, though. That would certainly be a blow to the series, but as Grey’s has shown before, anything can happen.

Do you think Mark will still be around in Grey’s Anatomy season 9?
