A new report says the GTA 5 release date probably won’t happen prior to the Christmas holiday shopping season. This comes as new screenshots continue to be released by Rockstar Games to generate fan interest in fifth installment of the popular series.
A previous GTA V rumor looked at the likelihood that at least a new trailer for the game will arrive this year. There have been screenshots involving transportation, leisure and business scenes sent out onto the internet this week, which has fans talking about what might be coming next. However, EEDAR analyst Jesse Divinch is saying the game won’t be out for Christmas 2012. Divinch said:
“A Christmas release is probably out of the realm of possibility at this point. Competitors have already placed their stake in the ground and while GTA V has no direct competitor, the combination of 2 to 4 great Action and Shooter titles this season could produce problems for a GTA holiday release.”
NowGamer website reports that among the highly anticipated video game titles coming out in the next several months are Assassin’s Creed 3, Halo 4, Black Ops 2, Hitman Absolution and Resident Evil 6. All of these titles will have loyal fans buying copies up, and are expected out within the months of October and November, just in time for the holiday shopping season. While some might think this doesn’t bode well for Rockstar Games and “Grand Theft Auto,” Divinch adds that due to the name it carries, it really won’t matter when the release date is for the game. He said “Rockstar doesn’t ‘view seasonality as a hurdle.'”
The previous installment, GTA IV,had an April 2008 launch, which many people criticized, saying it was the absolute worst month to bring the game out. However, it achieved major sales success despite that. With the level of anticipation for yet another title from the series, expect the same to happen with the fifth edition of the popular game, whenever Rockstar decides to release it to the masses.
