Harry Connick, Jr.’s Your Songs Disappoints

When I think of Harry Connick Jr., I think of New Orleans.  I’m expecting something upbeat, with a little bit of Dixieland Jazz thrown in here and there.  Your Songs is not that.  Don’t get me wrong – the songs are sung well, they are just uninspired.  This CD would be great as background music at a dinner party, but not as something that I would want to listen to every day.  When you are covering classic hits you need to own them and make them your own, and this is not what he did.  So if you’re looking for some great background music you’ll probably enjoy it, but if you’re looking to be inspired take a pass!
