Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan Land on List with ’50 Shades of Grey’ Author

What do Harry Styles and 50 Shades of Grey author E. L. James have in common?

No, it has nothing to do with “kinky f***ery,” although Hazza might like sexy cougar Elena in the 50 Shades books. Instead the erotic novel writer and the boy band star have both landed on Barbara Walters’ “10 Most Fascinating People of 2012″ list (Harry was included along with the rest of One Direction).

According to E! Online, other famous faces that made the list include movie star Ben Affleck, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, gymnast Gabby Douglas, cartoon king Seth MacFarlane, and New Jersey governor Chris Christie.

It might seem weird, but E. L. James and One Direction singers Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Harry Styles actually have something in common other than being British — they both skyrocketed to fame this year.

Women can’t get enough of James’ series of novels about a BDSM relationship, while Directioners can’t get enough of the band’s tunes about teen relationships. But the similarities don’t stop there.

50 Shades of Grey is based on Twilight fan fiction, and Directioners are big fans of writing their own fan fiction about the boys (they really like pairing Harry and Louis Tomlinson together romantically). And 1D and 50 Shades are both about to get their own movies.

It would be really fascinating to see some of Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating People of 2012 team up. Ben Affleck has been getting attention for directing the movie Argo, so perhaps he could helm the 50 Shades movie. And just like Gabby Douglas, 1D performed at the Olympics, so maybe they could all relive the games by teaming up for a fun music video full of flips and other gymnastic feats.

It would also be great if Seth MacFarlane decided to do a 50 Shades spoof on Family Guy.

There are still three people left to complete Barbara’s list, so who do you think will fill the remaining slots and be named the most fascinating person? Girls star Lena Dunham is an option. Other headline makers include General Petraeus, poll analyst Nate Silver, and Mitt Romney. Unfortunately you’ll have to wait until Dec. 12 to see who else lands on the list — that’s when her special airs on ABC.
