A new Hawaii bill could make a copy of Barack Obama’s birth certificate available for a mere $100. But why would the state of Hawaii resort to such a strange bill? It is hoping that “birthers” who doubt the Obama was born in Hawaii will hand over $100 and actually help reduce some of Hawaii’s $800 million budget deficit.
Speaking about the purposed bill, Rep. Rida Cabanilla said, “If it passes, it will calm the birthers down. All these people are still doubting it because they don’t want the birth certificate from Obama. They want it from our state office.”
It definitely looks like a great way for the state to profit off of what they see as a non-issue. Now, for the huge fee of $100, you too can own a copy of Barack ObamaÂ’s birth certificate! It seems a bit extortionate though, what will one be able to do with it after looking it over? It will merely be a copy and not the original. Perhaps people are framing it or using it as a placemat. Who knows?
