Hef Introduces New Playmate of the Year—Jaclyn Swedberg

It was a beautiful Thursday afternoon in Southern California yesterday when Playboy founder Hugh M. Hefner named 21-year-old Jaclyn Swedberg as the 2012 Playmate of the Year. The celebration has returned to the Playboy Mansion in Hombly Hills after being held in Las Vegas for several years. Hef’s lookalike son, Cooper, gave a short tribute to his father and introduced him. On hand to pass on the ultimate Bunny honor was 2011 PMOY, Claire Sinclair. The upcoming PMOY (June) issue was also unveiled, with Swedberg on the cover, a on-off tradition longtime Playboy fans are always thrilled to see.

PhotobucketThe 5’5″ brunette beauty is Playboy Magazine’s Miss April 2011 and a native of Southern California. She is Communications major at a private California university. Swedberg has starred in the Playboy TV shows, Badass and Playboy Trip Patagonia and she is part of a joint Playboy Key Club/Harley-Davidson promotion and a Harley-Davidson calendar girl. Swedberg frequently represents Playboy at events in her official Bunny costume (teal), a good sign of a future Playmate of the Year—someone who is willing to truly represent the company.

“Best day of my life,” Swedberg wrote on Twitter. “Words cannot describe how I feel!!!” Cooper Hefner, who is evolving into a terrific spokesman (and no doubt future boss) for the brand, told US Weekly, “I think Jaclyn encompasses the true ‘girl next door’ persona and she’ll do great representing the brand. “She exemplifies what we’ll be looking for, for the next 60 years.” Along with her beautiful looks, she has a charming personality that will no doubt help her perform her duties as PMOY for the next year.

PhotobucketSwedberg posted a sweet photo of herself with her mom on Twitter yesterday and it’s clear where she got her stunning looks! For the event, she wore a pale blue ballerina-style dress and gorgeous nude strappy stilettos, accessorized, of course, with her PMOY Bunny necklace and Bunny earrings.

At the start of the 2012 PMOY campaign, there was a bit of a controversy about Miss January 2011, Anna Sophia Berglund running since she is one of Hugh Hefner’s three girlfriends. Hefner assured readers that his relationship would have no bearing on the contest. The final choice is always made by Hefner, but he does take the readers votes into account. Jaclyn Swedberg was ahead in the polls from very early on, and even though Miss Berglund would have made a terrific PMOY, Hef went with the readers this year.
