Herb Brooks is an American Ice Hockey Coach whom is best known for coaching the United States National Team to a gold medal back in the 1980 Winter Olympics. The 1980 Winter Olympics is also referred to as the Miracle on Ice. Herb Brook birth given name is Herbert Paul Brooks, Jr. and he was born on August 5, 1937 and he passed away on August 11, 2003. He was commonly called Herb Brooks.

Herb Brooks also played Hockey himself. Brooks was a member of the US team in 1964 and also in the 1968 Olympic games. Herb Brooks coached the college, national, European professional as well as the National Hockey League levels.

Herb Brook’s Miracle on Ice was a medal winning round in men’s ice hockey during the 1980 Winter Olympics which were at Lake Placid, New York on February 22. Herb Brooks coached the team which consisted of amateur and collegiate players. The USA team defeated the Soviet team in an amazing and astonishing victory over the considered best hockey team in the world.

The International Ice Hockey Federation picked the Miracle on Ice as the 1st pick for the international hockey story of the century.
