Fox News Channel announced on Friday that former presidential hopeful Herman Cain will be joining the network as a contributor. Cain will also be contributing to Fox Business Network. The radio host, columnist and business executive from Georgia, perhaps best known for his stint as president and CEO of Godfather Pizza, vied for the Republican presidential nomination in the last election, becoming a serious contender, before allegations of sexual misconduct which he denied, led to the suspension of his campaign.

Recently, Cain, who ended up endorsing Mitt Romney for the presidency, has advocated the formation of a conservative third party as an alternative to the Republican Party.

Brimming with personality, Cain should make an attractive addition to Fox News. He is likable, witty, and outspoken. Many will speculate as to whether he is intended to be a replacement for either Sarah Palin or Dick Morris, who both recently cut ties with Fox News.

According to MSN, Cain is looking forward to the job saying it is “an opportunity to be one more voice for intelligent thinking in America.”

It will be interesting to see what kind of commentary Cain offers on the two channels. Although he tends to be frank in his remarks, it is doubtful that he will be as outrageous as some of the cable network’s previous commentators.
