Today in his home state of Georgia, Herman Cain announced that he is suspending his presidential campaign. The one-time GOP frontrunner cited his family’s pain from the numerous allegations of sexual harassment and infidelity as the reason for his departure from the race.

Sexual allegations have caused pain for Cain’s family

Not only has Herman Cain been the recipient of sexual harassment allegations from former employees, but an Atlanta woman named Ginger White recently came out claiming that she and Cain had a sexual affair on-and-off for years. Cain denied having a sexual affair with White and said that he was only helping her pay rent and other bills because they were friends.

Standing by his assertion that the allegations are false, Cain maintained his denial of the accusations. His wife Gloria stood by his side in support as he reassured his supporters that ” I am at peace with my God, at peace with my wife, and at peace with myself” in reference to the allegations.

Nevertheless, Cain decided to suspend his campaign. “These false and unproved allegations continue … to create a cloud of doubt over me and this campaign and my family,” said Cain on his televised announcement.

Cain blames media for distractions

During his announcement, Cain blasted the media for putting a negative spin on him and his campaign amidst the storm of sexual allegations. Cain himself spun the negative media attention as an affront to the American people declaring, “That spin hurts. It hurts my wife, it hurts my family, it hurts me and it hurts the American people because you’re being denied solutions to our problems.”

Cain announces “Plan B”

“I am not going to be silenced and I will not go away.” Cain vehemently stated.

Cain maintained that he will continue to work for change by unveiling his Plan B: the new website: TheCainSolution.com. The website will act as a platform where Cain can advocate for his “9-9-9″ economic plan. He also announced that he will be making an endorsement “in the near future”.
