The latest venture for the Hilo Coffee Mill in Mountain View is their new Farmer’s Market. The Mill owners, Cathy Patton and Jeanette Baysa, are entrepreneurs with a very innovative spirit.
Located at 17-0995 Volcano Road, the beautifully landscaped Mill property consists of several acres planted in coffee and tea plants, gardens, drying shed, chicken coops and a beautiful central building housing their roasting facility and the cafe and gift shop.
Off the main building, in an easily accessible open area, they are now hosting a Farmer’s Market, where several farmers, growers and producers get together every Saturday morning from 7 am to noon to sell flowers, rabbits, fruit, veggies, fresh baked breads, poi, dried opelu (a mackerel type fish), plants and as of this coming Saturday they have a new vendor offering Kava, chicken eggs and possibly even some chickens.
We bought papayas, avocado, chapati (a flat bread from India), a mini succulent plant, coconut candy and liliko’o (passion fruit) butter.Â
When we visited last Saturday we were happy to run into several friends we hadn’t seen in quite a while…and took the opportunity to eat lunch in the Mill’s Cafe.

Some Saturday morning take time to drive to Mountain View and the Farmer’s Market @ The Hilo Coffee Mill… and if you’re a farmer or producer interested in being a vendor, call Cathy and Jeanette, they only have a few more spaces left.
