Honey Boo Boo and Family Are ‘Movin’ On Up!’

No, Honey Boo Boo and her self-proclaimed redneck family aren’t ‘movin’ on up’ to a deluxe apartment a la The Jeffersons, but they’re moving on up in yearly earnings. TLC just gave Alana Thompson and her family a big raise.

According to a report from TMZ, June Shannon and Alana’s father ‘Sugar Bear,’ along with the little girl’s three half-sisters received a huge boost from their network–and they never even asked for a raise.

Here Comes Honey Boo BooSources close to TLC say the network realized what a huge hit they had on their hands with the Toddlers and Tiaras spinoff show. Instead of receiving between $5,000 and $7,000 per episode, the family will now receive between $15,000 and $20,000 per episode. Yay! Now they can have dental work done!

In addition to the per-episode increase, TLC has agreed to pay for a driver for Sugar Bear, who was recently injured in an ATV accident. They already pay for a bodyguard for Alana.

The bonuses don’t stop there either. TLC offered to move the Shannon family into a larger home, but Mama June Shannon said no. She loves to decorate their little house for Christmas and she is very involved in the community where they live–so moving simply isn’t an option.

In related news, it seems agents have swarmed June Shannon recently, wanting to sign her and/or the family, but June remains resolute on that front to, offering only a big ‘No’ where agents are concerned. Once again she cites family and community matters–saying she’s afraid that kind of commitment would take her away from both.

Yes, people, what you’re witnessing here is a slow demise of American values. And no, this isn’t meant as condescending in the least to those struggling to make ends meet. There’s a vast difference between the two. The whole Here Comes Honey Boo Boo family burps, farts, and speaks like a pack of idiots on national TV and they’re revered as a family of heroes. The young mom down the street, however, pinches pennies, works at the local dry cleaners for minimum wage–and is looked down upon by others because she uses her EBT card at the grocery store check-out.

TLC rewards the Shannon family for their stupidity because Americans tune in. Who will reward that young mom for trying her best, but never, ever getting ahead?

Something is very wrong here.
