Roy Oswalt is one of the best pitchers in baseball today, and he is definitly the best pitcher the Astros have had in the last decade.

But Oswalt wants to play for a winner.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Astros ace Roy Oswalt has asked to be traded, team general manager Ed Wade acknowledged today.

Oswalt’s agent, Bob Garber, contacted Astros owner Drayton McLane on Thursday and communicated the pitcher’s request, Wade said.

Oswalt is under contract with the Astros through 2011, but his openness about wanting to break his contract if he can be dealt to a winning team has come up over and over lately. I personally think hr would make a great #2 guy here in Detroit, don’t you also Dave Dombrowski?

Coming into this season, Oswalt had a career record of 139-76 with a 3.21 ERA.
