HUGE Meat Recall: USDA Says ‘High Health Risk’ to U.S.

Filed in Gather News Channel by on February 9, 2014 0 Comments

The USDA has issued a meat recall for almost 9 million pounds of products made from “diseased and unsound animals” in California. The meat is thought to be all over the U.S. as it was sent to “distribution and retail centers in California, Florida and Texas”. There should be a list of stores and restaurants that carry the products but the website says one will be posted if it becomes available. Doesn’t the plant have that information? How did this incredibly high amount of dangerous product escape notice of the USDA? Someone is missing the mark and with this level of danger, that’s unacceptable.

On January 13th, a recall from this same company was issued for 42,000lbs. of meat that the USDA claimed hadn’t been properly inspected and that it wasn’t fit for consumption. You would assume they would have known how much of the meat they missed. There’s a huge difference between 42,000 and 9 million pounds. Hopefully with this new recall information, the stores and other facilities that carry the tainted meat can destroy everything that hasn’t been sold.

The warning states that all the products were processed from January 1, 2013 thru January 7, 2014 at the Rancho Feeding Corporation in Petaluma, California. The products include:

  • Beef carcasses
  • Beef blood
  • Beef tongue
  • Beef bones

Please check the USDA website to find out exactly what products are included in this meat recall. The website is at: USDA Recall Information
