Human Barbie Valeria Lukyanova is making headlines again, but this time she’s not just getting attention for her doll-like appearance.
Valeria has become an internet sensation with her impossibly small waist and impossibly large eyes, and her Barbie-like appearance has left many skeptics wondering if she isn’t the work of CGI or extreme plastic surgery.
However, Valeria hasn’t had any ribs removed; her eyes haven’t been enlarged; and she’s not a CGI creation dreamed up by a lonely computer geek. And while the Ukrainian beauty is mostly known for her outrageous looks, she wants people to know that she’s more than just a pretty face.
The 21-year-old recently talked to V Magazine to prove that she’s real, and this is what she said about her job as a teacher at the School of Out-of-Body Travel (via Yahoo! Shine):
“It’s an international school in which our instructors show students how to leave their physical body and travel in their spiritual body, where you can visit any place on the planet and in the universe. I know that this is the future of mankind and that it has huge potential.”
Here’s an existential question for Valeria Lukyanova: when you have the body of a Human Barbie, why on Earth would you want to leave it?
Valeria is also hoping that her fans will embrace her singing – she writes and performs “new age opera” songs. She’s posted some of her singing on her YouTube page, and she actually has a pretty decent voice. Valeria might seem a little like a beautiful space alien, but at least she doesn’t sound like E.T.
It’s a good thing that Valeria focuses so much on spirituality and meditation, because she needs to be Zen to deal with all the crazy internet haters that constantly accuse her of being fake.
However, Valeria’s looks could be dangerous since the “living doll” movement is becoming increasingly popular on the internet. Many other girls are using Valeria’s makeup tricks and circle contact lenses to make their eyes appear bigger, but this isn’t the biggest problem – Valeria and others like her are extremely thin, so they might be providing “thinspiration” for girls who are anorexic and bulimic. Girls who want to be like them might also feel the need to get plastic surgery since living dolls like Valeria often have features like small noses and busts that are disproportionately large in relation to their bodies.
