The cast of the next Hunger Games movie is taking shape ever more quickly now: Lionsgate confirmed Wednesday that Bruno Gunn will play the character Brutus in Catching Fire. That news comes just one day after the studio announced the addition of actress Meta Golding in the role of Enobaria.
For those who haven’t read the books yet (apparently there are some of you left in the world), Gunn’s character, like Golding’s, is a former Hunger Games winner from District 2 who goes up against Katniss in the “Quarter Quell” competition.
If you’re not familiar with Gunn, maybe you’re just not watching enough TV. Though not exactly a household name, the 43-year-old actor from Ohio has been a guest star on a variety of shows including The Office, NCIS: Los Angeles, Sons of Anarchy, and Prison Break. He’s also acted in several movies, most notably the Cameron Diaz comedy Bad Teacher. Another reason you might not recognize the name Bruno Gunn is that he’s often credited as Bruno Gioiello.
But no matter: Gunn’s tough-guy looks will likely garner him plenty of attention once he appears as the deadly Brutus in Catching Fire. The movie begins shooting in late November.
