Lionsgate announced yet another casting decision for Catching Fire on Friday: E. Roger Mitchell will play Chaff in the Hunger Games sequel. No doubt the studio is eager to get all these roles filled as soon as possible, since shooting starts next month. Clearly things are ramping up rapidly as the cast comes together.
Like all the other characters cast this week, Chaff is a former winning tribute who shows up to compete in the Quarter Quell against Katniss, Peeta and others. He’s only got one hand, having lost the other during his first Hunger Games, so Mitchell should have some fun acting with a prosthetic stump on his arm.
Mitchell is one of many lesser-known names and faces coming on board the franchise for this second movie. He has an extensive theater background, but that doesn’t mean the actor lacks onscreen experience. His film and TV credits include Battle: Los Angeles, The Crazies, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, The Shield, and One Tree Hill.
Be sure to watch E. Roger Mitchell do battle as Chaff when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits the screens in November 2013!
