The casting news just doesn’t stop for the next Hunger Games movie: Maria Howell has been chosen to play Seeder in Catching Fire, Lionsgate announced Monday.
Seeder is one of the many former Hunger Games winners who come back to take part in the Quarter Quell. But this champion from District 11, described as a kind and gentle person, is a bit different in that she and Katniss hit it off, despite knowing they’ll be competitors to the death. A bit of a dilemma, to say the least. Oh well, no friendship is perfect, right?
Howell may be a somewhat familiar face to TV viewers, having appeared in numerous shows, including Army Wives, The Vampire Diaries, and several Tyler Perry series. She’s also had small parts in movies like the Sandra Bullock hit The Blind Side and this year’s What to Expect When You’re Expecting. It looks like Howell will have a busy autumn, since besides shooting Catching Fire she’s going to be a regular on NBC’s new, highly anticipated series Revolution.
Along with her acting, Maria Howell has had a long and successful career in music as a jazz singer and has released several CDs. That’s one busy woman. Good luck to her as Seeder when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes out in November 2013!
