Hurt Locker wins best picture at the Oscars and DVD’s are selling like hotcakes.

The Hurt Locker won best original screenplay, and best director for Kathryn Bigelow.

DVD sales on Amazon.com rose to third place since yesterday, March 8, 2010.

David Joyce, an analyst with Miller Tabak & Co. in New York says that expanding the film to 1,000 theaters from 274 in the next few weeks would boost its worldwide box-office sales to an estimated $40 million.

Hurt Locker has taken in $21.4 million in global ticket sales since its release on June 26, 2009, according to Box Office Mojo, a researcher based in Sherman Oaks, California.
