The iPhone 5 release date rumors continue to pile in at such a high rate, they are often hard to keep up with. One catchy rumor, which has many Apple fans drooling at the moment, states their 6th generation smartphone could have 3D technology.
The 3D iPhone rumor surfaced after a new Apple job posting popped up online. A recent article states the company is looking for a “Computer Vision specialist to strengthen its multi-view stereo research group,” and adds the applicant should have a “Ph.D. degree in a Computer Vision related field such as Mathematics, Physics or Computer Science. You should be a confident and experienced C programmer”.
Is Apple on the hunt for a new visionary who will take the iPhone 5 release date experience to the next level for fans of the device?
The Apple Job posting states the company is seeking an iOS Software Engineer with knowledge in SLAM, large scale bundle adjustment, cameras and surfaces in a 3D environment, multi view stereo and 3D reconstruction, and inpainting of occluded geometry and texture data. They aren’t asking for much, are they?
Of course, this Apple job posting may have nothing to do with what they’ve got in store for upcoming smartphone designs, but fans are hopeful its a clue for whats to come in the Apple mobile devices future.
This 3D Apple smartphone rumor surfaced not long after Samsung put rumors to rest about the Samsung Galaxy S3 release being 3D. The basically stated they are always considering new technologies, but have no plans to release a 3D smartphone in 2012.
Is 3D far-fetched for Apple smartphones at this time? Perhaps, but if the company isn’t able to work out 4G technology for the handset, they will certainly want to pack something different into the gadget to increase its appeal for Apple aficionados.
Do you think this job posting has anything to do technologies fans can expect to see with future iPhone 5 release dates? Or, is it more likely Apple is tinkering with 3D technology for some other gadget they’ve got planned?
