Is a Serial Killer Preying on Pregnant Women for the D.C. Sniper?

Could a budding serial killer be preparing to mark random pregnant women in New York for the D.C. Sniper? A note was found on the body of 38-year-old Vindalee Smith after she’d been stabbed to death. What the note warned of is disturbing to say the least. If you’re pregnant and you live near the scene of this grisly crime, you may have reason to worry.

Vindalee Smith was found brutally murdered in her NYC apartment a day before her planned wedding to fiancé Anthony Jackman. The note found underneath her body was printed from a computer and warned that one pregnant woman would be murdered each week until the D.C. Sniper is released from prison. Threats of becoming a serial killer for the likes of the D.C. Sniper is utterly bizarre, but considering there is already one victim under the perp’s belt, it’s better safe than sorry when it comes to deciding whether or not to take the threats seriously.

On the other hand, there are some strange details about the fiance’ of the slain woman. Anthony Jackman is reportedly already married — and therefore unable to marry the woman who was murdered just before their wedding. So this whole thing seems strange.

What do you think is likely in this case? Do you think a budding serial predator is on the rise, looking for pregnant women to off or do you think the note was left as a diversion away from the real murderer? Why the strange request to release the D.C. Sniper?

In case you aren’t familiar with the D.C. Sniper, the story actually involves two people; Lee Boyd Malvo and accomplice John Allen Muhammad. The two planned two kill six white people a day until a utopian world for black homeless youth would be achieved. It really seems strange that the note left with the murdered pregnant woman’s body wants the Malvo released, or at the least it’s strange that this is being used an excuse.
