Is Kate Middleton decorating the nursery for her and Prince William’s baby with antiques? If she is, hopefully someone has cautioned her about using antique baby equipment. There can be some serious safety issues with many of these items.

Kate Middleton Style BlogAccording to a report from Hollywood Life, the Duchess of Cambridge visited several antiques shops in London this past weekend. And while finding antiques for the nursery decor is an excellent and very stylish option, Kate must stay away from antique changing tables, prams, cribs and cradles.

Antique cribs, changing tables, prams and cradles—or pretty much anything antique that the baby will be placed on or left unattended in—has the potential to cause serious harm. Safety standards that accompany today’s baby products weren’t in place years ago and rails, bars, heights and depths of the antique pieces don’t typically come even close to the newer models. Infants can become trapped or otherwise harmed when such safety standards aren’t in place.

Kate shopped with a friend and reportedly didn’t buy anything. Probably she was gathering ideas for how she plans to put the nursery together. An antique dresser or antique rocking chair would be an elegant addition to any baby’s nursery. Kate Middleton and Prince William will no doubt exercise the utmost in caution when it comes to their baby’s safety.
