Top Chef is one of the most followed reality TV competitions out there, competing with the likes of American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, so it’s no surprise that another season is currently in the process of being filmed. What is surprising, however, is the rumors that the show is breaking with the precedent of filming in just one major locale and potentially filming a Texas version, with competitions in San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas to name a few.
This would be the first time that the Bravo reality show has done a statewide version, raising questions as to how Top Chef will pull it off. Where do contestants stay, since they’re normally put up in a house in their host city? And, more importantly, why change what has formerly been a formula for success? Is there a strategy to hosting the show in several cities?
Though Top Chef Texas is still a mere rumor, numerous tweets by fans and show judges alike have confirmed the suspicions that they have been on location, at least in San Antonio (though why San Antonio and not a culinary hot spot like Austin remains to be seen!).
