It’s a Bird, it’s a Plane – it’s Lake Seminole Park in Florida – Photos

With over one million visitors a year, Lake Seminole Park is a popular place for locals and tourists alike. Whether you are traveling to Florida’s Tampa Bay Area looking for great family fun on the cheap, or if you like watersports, have a boat or just want to have a picnic by the lake and play some volleyball, you can do it here and more.

I like their 2 mile hiking trail (with a one mile cut off, if you decide you had enough along the way) and plenty of benches around the ponds and the lake to take in the beautiful scenery if that is more your style.

I hear it’s a great place to fish, but I prefer to bring my camera to capture the wildlife. From ducks to bald eagles, turtles and racoons and of course alligators and snakes, this is Florida after all – Lake Seminole Park is a designated wildlife habitat and sanctuary.

The inspiration for this article were

the blue skies and pretty cloud formations

I noticed over Lake Seminole today.

Pretty blue in all directions …

The tree line you see

is were the park and the boatramp is.

You can see

the bridge

from all sides of Seminole Lake.

I didn’t dare get too close

to the edges or into the marshy areas or tall grass,

because you always have to be aware of alligators.

Here I zoomed in on the bridge a bit more.

Since I was there,

I looked for other photo opportunities and

there it is,

my new friend, the marbled godwit.

He even posed for me

in a strategic spot:)

yellow flowers to complement it’s beauty!

Of course

I couldn’t resist a flower shot.

Pretty in purple weeds:)

Butterflies everywhere …

A resident white egret

had no interest in a photoshoot, so I stalked him a bit,

but it was impossible to get a good shot at midday.

Anyway – here is his highness …

Dragonflies love the lake too …

All that is left is to tell you about are the planes …….

which I looked at last Saturday.

Drawn by the pretty colors I stopped to have a look at the cool ultra-light airplane that is for hire around the lake. It’s a two seater so you can go up and take pics from above if you like or take flying lessons.

The instructor, pilot, Jim was a delight to talk to – if you decide to go, tell him the photographer lady sent you:)

Nearby is another plane

belonging to a different owner,

this plane is used for watersports, primarily on the weekend.

I haven’t been to the adjacent Seminole Lake Park lately, but it’s close to home so I’ll go there one day next week to see what I can scare up to photograph and share with you so that you can see the park activities and amenities.

Meanwhile here is the
