James Arness’ Brother, Peter Graves, Dead at 83; Peter Graves Airplane Quotes!

Actor Peter Graves died of a heart attack Sunday at his house in Pacific Palisades, Calif., according to Entertainment Weekly’s Web site.

Graves, 83, may be best known for his work in movies “Airplane!” and “Mission Impossible” as well as the original host of the TV series “Biography.”

He also played roles in films from the fifties including “Stalag 17″ (1953) and Night of the Hunter in 1955.

Graves, whose birth name is Peter Arness, was the brother of “Gunsmoke” star James Arness.

Aside from his roles in Hollywood, Graves served in the U.S. Air Force from 1944-45. However, he’ll mostly be remembered for his role as Captain Clarence Oveur in “Airplane!” and “Airplane 2: The Sequel.”
