James Bond has excited movie audiences for 50 years, but no Bond actor has ever won an Oscar. That may not change this year, but the Bond films will still finally get recognition at the Oscar ceremony.
Considering the number of Bond films and how many actors have appeared as Bond, it is surprising that the only Oscars the films have ever won were for Best Effects for Goldfinger and Thunderball in 1964 and 1965.
But now, according to Hollywood.com, Oscar producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have announced that they will honor America’s largest film franchise.
The awards show has become very predictable and dull lately, and the winners have not always been the shows that viewers loved best. Skyfall could finally win an award for someone other than the technicians, since it has passed $1 billion in sales, but even if it doesn’t, the Bond tribute should add some excitement to the series that has been wowing audiences since 1962’s Dr. No.
