There is yet another photo for the growing picture catalogue of James Holmes, the 24-year-old California man accused of killing 12 moviegoers at a Batman screening in July.

The University of Colorado this week gave to the press his college ID face shot. You can view the fairly benign photo of the alleged killer here.

In addition to the picture, CU also released four meaningless documents, to appease journalists begging for more about the accused gunman. Also revealed were delivery logs, as well as information regarding an NIH grant the former neuroscience student received.

How is the university allowed to get away with this? Media outlets for months have been demanding files, but school officials keep stonewalling, and give some useless documents which don’t mean anything. It’s perfectly legal for CU to keep his records private, but is it ethical? Are they hiding something they don’t want the public to know about?

Holmes is being held at Arapahoe County Jail, facing 166 charges related to the Batman massacre in July. There are so many bizarre twists to this story, yet the courts and the university aren’t telling the citizenry much at all.
