Janet Jackson Not Among Michael Jackson Tribute Performers

Janet Jackson, pop star and sister to the late Michael Jackson, is not on the performers roster for an upcoming tribute concert.

The news comes amidst the planning for the October tribute show to Michael Jackson, with already confirmed artists such as Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, and Smokey Robinson.

The Hollywood Reporter quoted Janet Jackson’s remarks on the poor timing of the event, as it is due to take place during the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor accused in Michael’s sudden death. “Because of the trial, the timing of this tribute to our brother would be too difficult for me.” The odd clash of the events seems to either be an act of poor planning or an intentional choice to enhance the tribute’s significance.

Undoubtedly, the event puts an emotional strain on the Jackson family. However, the general uninvolvement seems questionable.

Jackson siblings Jermaine and Randy also agree that the timing just isn’t right. “While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death,” they revealed to CNN. The whole family doesn’t share Janet Jackson’s view, however.

Surprisingly, a few Jackson brothers and Tito Jackson’s sons are slated to perform at the event alongside the aforementioned stars, as well as Cee Lo Green and Leona Lewis, to name a few.

Despite lack of support from Janet Jackson and other parts of the Jackson family, the show will go on October 8 at the Wales Millennium Stadium in Great Britain.
