Janice Dickinson, the model who coined the term, “supermodel,” is now joining Jeremy London and Jason Wahler in the Vh1 show, “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew.” The former model, “America’s Next Top Model” judge and “Surreal Life,” alum is seeking treatment for alcohol abuse, through the reality show.

The casting of “Celebrity Rehab” has been a challenge as reports that they could not get any celebrities to join the cast for this upcoming season kept surfacing. The previous season of “Celebrity Rehab” included former NBA player Dennis Rodman, actor Tom Sizemore and ex-girlfriend Heidi Fleiss, actress Mackenzie Phillips, former Alice in Chains bassist Mike Starr and country singer Mindy McCready.

I followed the previous season of Celebrity Rehab and found it difficult to watch and yet difficult to turn away from. It was very raw TV. What’s most heartbreaking, though, is what happens after the show is over. With rumors of arrests and a return to old habits, it’s hard not to question whether the reality show format is the right context for getting these celebrities the help they need.
