Jay-Z has now surpassed Elvis as the leading artist of Number One albums. Jay’s ‘Blueprint 3′ debuted at Number One on the Top 200, selling 475,000 copies. ‘Blueprint 3′ marks Jay-Z’s 11th album at Number One, making Jay-Z The King–and not just of hip hop/rap.
Not taking anything away from Jay-Z’s 475,000 copies, but the Beatles, with their remastered catalog CD’s, sold 646,000 copies– forty years after they were originally released. Jay-Z won the charts, but the Beatles won the sales.
I may be mistaken but I doubt the same people buying Blueprint 3 are also buying the Beatles?
