The jaws of Gleeks, “Office” fanatics and 30 Rock-ers all dropped when Jim Parsons’ name was called as the winner of the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series.

Sure, “The Big Bang Theory” holds its own against other early evening CBS sitcoms, but does it honestly have the clout to go up against the big guns?and win?

Apparently so. Not only did Parsons beat out Steve Carell, Alec Baldwin, Matthew Morrison and Thomas Jane for the Golden Globe this evening, but he also beat out a similar crew back in August, when he took home the Emmy for the same. Perhaps there is more to “The Big Bang Theory” than meets the eye?

Perhaps Parsons deserves the award, but we’re sure that Carell is disappointed in his loss, having appeared at the Golden Globes as a cast member of “The Office” for the last time this year, with his final episode in the near future.

What did you think of Parsons taking home the award? Deserving or not? If not, who would you rather have seen on stage?
