JoAnn Watson, Socialist Detroit Council Member Wants Obama Bacon [Video]

JoAnn Watson, Detroit City Council Member and Socialist activist, believes that since the citizens of Detroit “overwhelmingly” supported Obama, he should respond with some “bacon.”

She draws the comparison to Coleman Alexander Young, who served as mayor of Detroit from 1974 to 1993, who apparently came home with some “bacon” after the election of Jimmy Carter. Interestingly, the mayor to whom Watson referred had strong Communist ties. Young was known for being an outspoken advocate for federal funding for Detroit and enjoyed a good relationship with Carter. The “quid quo pro” seems to have applied back then, as well.

Citizens should vote for the presidential candidate that best represents his or her values. It should not be a matter of what he or she can “get” from the president. With leaders like this, it is no wonder that Detroit is suffering.

In fact, Detroit’s financial situation is so dire, that Detroit Free Press reports that State Treasurer Andy Dillon “has been meeting with Detroit’s elected officials… warning that the city’s financial condition means appointment of an emergency financial manager is all but inevitable.” It notes that “Detroit was projected to be nearly $47 million short of money it will need to pay employees and its bills and debts by June 30.” Well, the answer must be Obama Money!

MyFoxDetroit reports that JoAnn Watson said it was “quid pro quo”! “That’s what you do,” Watson explained. She said, “Our people in an overwhelming way supported the re-election of this president and there ought to be a quid pro quo and you ought to exercise leadership on that.” Sickening.
