These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 speaks of peace. In a world filled with wars, disagreements, gossip and fighting, we long for peace. Recently I realized it starts on a small level with ripples sent out into the world.
When we have peace within, it is easier to remain peaceful with those around us. Disagreements don’t have to evolve into full-blown arguments. Rumors can be left behind. If we make a mistake and fight, we can apologize and learn to get along. Tribulation is to be expected but we can return to good cheer.
During this season of peace, let’s consider our own inner feelings. Are we holding grudges or worry? Wecan give them to Him to experience greater peace as He has overcome the world. Do we wind up arguing rather than agreeing to disagree? We can change for a more harmonious environment. Peace on earth, good will toward men and women, starts with ourselves.
