John Mayer’s Black Women Comment

Filed in Gather Celeb News Channel by on February 10, 2010 0 Comments

Well I’m going to start this article off by saying I feel awkward about writing this because I wonder how people will take it sense I am, indeed, a black woman. That being said it is popular topic at the moment: so here goes.

So John Mayer was recently interviewed by Playboy Magazine and he was asked the question that basically asked if black women “threw” themselves at him. I honestly have not read the full interview, because I do not subscribe to Playboy, and I don’t have the full context of the interview as a whole. I do know that of course John may put his foot in his mouth yet again. For your reading pleasure, please read the following interview excerpt:

Playboy: Do black women throw themselves at you?

John Mayer: I don’t think I open myself to it. My dick is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a f—kin’ David Duke c–k. I’m going to start dating separately from my dick

So there you have it ladies and gentlemen another offensive, most likely and hopefully thoughtless comment by John Mayer.

Does anyone else feel slightly deceived or confused by John Mayer? I’m have to admit I really enjoy music, guitar playing, and song lyrics–“Waiting on the World to Change,” “Daughters,” “Why Georgia,” “Dreaming with a Broken Heart,” and “Say” amongst many other great songs: award winning songs. He is a remarkable artist, extremely talented and popular amongst the lady folk, especially Hollywood’s leading ladies like:  Jennifer Anniston, Cameron Diaz, Jessica Simpson, and even Jennifer Love Hewitt.

He is known for his womanizing and offbeat comments. “Your body is a wonderland” is definitely amore appropriate song representative of his reputation.

In the future I hope John Mayer grows up and matures. I would love for him to put a little more thought into his comments before saying them, that way he avoids back lash. Then again Mayer might be saying and doing all these things on purpose to bring attention to himself or just to ruffle feathers.

I guess until then we have more offbeat remarks and John Mayer’s dating news to look forward to.

All that being said I enjoy John Mayer’s talent. I’m not hugely offended by his comment because well it was in Playboy and everyone does have their preferences on who they wish to sleep with and date. I wouldn’t want someone judging me off of the type of guy I like dating so I don’t see why it would matter who someone else prefers to date. I do suppose that he could have said it in a less crass way.

What do you think of John Mayer’s behavior in the interview? What do you think of John Mayer’s dating history?
