Johnny Cash’s Daughter to John Boehner: ‘Stop Using My Dad’s Name as a Punchline, You Asshat.’

Republican House minority leader John Boehner has been invoking late country music icon Johnny Cash’s name in a joke during speeches recently, and Cash’s daughter — country singer Rosanne Cash — isn’t happy about it.

The joke, as reported by Politico: “Remember when Ronald Reagan was president? We had Bob Hope. We had Johnny Cash. Think about where we are today. We have got President Obama. But we have no hope and we have no cash.”

Ha? No ha, per Rosanne Cash, who has taken to political roundtable Twitter to vent her displeasure. “Stop using my dad’s name as a punchline, you asshat,” she writes.

No word yet from Hope’s progeny, though given Ol’ Ski-Nose’s political preferences it’s doubtful that we’ll be hearing of any objections, especially involving the words “ass” or “hat.”

Also no official response yet from the house of Boehner, whose name of course does not lend itself to any humorous or jocular remarks whatsoever.
