Julian Assange has been arrested. The WikiLeaks Founder had been wanted for questioning in regard to sex crimes that may have been directly related to him. Assange turned himself in to London police early this morning the Huffington Post reports.

“Judge LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 26: Julian Assange of the WikiLeaks website speaks to reporters at The Front Line Club on July 26, 2010 in London, England. The WikiLeaks website has published 90,000 secret US Military records. The Guardian and The New York Times newspapers and teh German Magazine Der Spiegel have also published details today. (Photo by Peter Macdiarmid/Getty Images)Howard Riddle told Assange that he had ‘substantial grounds’ to believe the 39-year-old Australian wouldn’t turn up for subsequent proceedings. He then put Assange into U.K. custody ahead of an extradition hearing” (The Huffington Post).

Assange, 39, may have raped two women in Sweden, which is what he will be questioned for. Everyone was waiting for police to catch this guy, and we’re all relieved to know that he has been arrested and that he was denied bail. If he is charged with the sex crimes, it will be a blessing that he was caught and kept in jail.

We can only hope that there is enough evidence against Assange that if he committed these crimes, he is properly punished.
