Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel Star in Nicholas Sparks’ ‘Safe Haven’

Josh Duhamel is already a major league movie star. His leading lady for the upcoming Nicholas Sparks film, Safe Haven, is Julianne Hough. She’s becoming a star in her own right. Together, the duo should light up the big-screen.

This Sparks film is different too. It isn’t his stereotypical love story. At least that’s not all it is. It’s also a thriller. That’s because Hough’s character is hiding something. Think about the Julia Roberts film, Sleeping With the Enemy. It’s that kind of damsel in distress situation, but with its own unique twist.

However, there’ll be no mistaking the love story. After all, it’s Sparks’ stock and trade. Without it, his fans would quickly lose interest.

Lasse Hallstrom directs the project, which is part of the reason Hough was anxious to get involved. “I think he’s one of the most prestigious directors I’ll be working with,” she said. Of course, she also admits that her co-star, Duhamel, wasn’t bad incentive either. “He’s really great,” she notes, also adding that he’s “not a bad guy to look at”.

Hough’s been racking up a name for herself in the film industry with a string of impressive hits. She was great as the preacher’s daughter in the reboot of Kevin Bacon’s most famous film — Footloose. Word has it, she also shines with Tom Cruise in the now released Rock of Ages.

Hough’s next movie, by Cody Diablo, has her playing against type somewhat. Her beauty’s marred as a burn victim in the as of yet untitled film.

That movie changed Hough on many levels, saying “it changed my perspective on what’s important.” She said she’s now hoping to become “a nicer person”; one that’s “more thoughtful”.

Both Julianne Hough’s and Josh Duhamel’s fans think their stars are pretty nice just they way the are. Together, however, they might just create screen magic. Those faces, smiles and bodies seem perfectly attuned to make sure the next Sparks film shines as bright as The Notebook.
