Justin Bieber brought some Holiday cheer to the 2011 American Music Awards. Sean Kingston introduced the 17-year-old singer on stage. Bieber performed his new single from his number one Holiday album Under the Mistletoe, which has a reggae sounding twist.
Even though his name has been in the headlines and he is obviously going through some stressful things, he didn’t seem to let that get to him. Bieber wasn’t alone at the awards either, his faithful girlfriend, Selena Gomez, was by his side as they arrived to the awards. Throughout the night, they could be seen together in the audience, enjoying the show’s many performances.
Bieber wasn’t at the awards only to perform, he was also nominated! He went up against Bruno Mars and Pitbull for Favorite Male Artist (Pop or Rock). Bieber won the award last year and many wondered if he would be able to pull it off for a second year in a row.
Bieber may have over 14 million Twitter followers and even more faithful ‘Beliebers,’ but he lost the award to Bruno Mars. Mars was gracious, though, and acknowledged both Bieber and Pitbull in his acceptance speech.
Overall, Bieber has shown that he is a strong kid and isn’t letting his personal problems get in the way of his professional career.
Did you enjoy Justin Bieber’s performance? Were you surprised that he did not win Favorite Male Rock/Pop Artist?
