Justin Bieber Doesn’t Go to Church: What Does Selena Gomez Think?

Justin Bieber’s V magazine interview should be an eye-opener. The issue doesn’t hit newsstands until Thursday, but reports say Bieber really opens up about his religious beliefs in the piece. And yes, his faith seems rather obvious given the Jesus tattoo he just got on his leg. In short: He does seem spiritual, but he doesn’t seem all that into organized religion. Would girlfriend Selena Gomez agree with Justin’s views? Selena and Justin might be photographed jetting around the world (most recently, to Mexico for a little vacation time), but has anyone ever seen them going to church together?

According to the New York Post‘s Page Six, Justin Bieber talks at length about how he incorporates religion into his life in the V magazine cover story. Among other things, Justin says:

“A lot of people who are religious, I think they get lost. They go to church just to go to church. I’m not trying to disrespect them… but for me, I focus more on praying and talking to Him. I don’t have to go to church.”

That seems to answer the question about why he and Selena aren’t seen going to church, doesn’t it? Selena herself seems spiritual, too. After her mother tragically miscarried Selena’s little sister, Scarlett, last month, the singer/actress called Scarlett her “guardian angel.”

Justin Bieber also talks about what it feels like to be at the top of his game. He says in the V interview that it can be challenging because others are trying to take his top spot and bring him down. He likens his situation to that of boxer Floyd Mayweather, saying, “He’s the best boxer in the world. Now he is a champion. Every time he goes to a fight now, people are like, ‘He’s going to lose this time.‘”

It sounds like Bieber is well aware of how hard he’s going to have to fight to maintain his spot at the top of superstardom in 2012, and beyond. The full issue of V magazine, again, will be out on Thursday, January 12. Fans: Will you read it?
