Justin Bieber has thrown his share of minor jabs around, questioning Prince William’s receding hairline and semi-accusing One Direction’s Liam Payne of copying his signature hair flip. But the “Boyfriend” singer recently got majorly insulted by a rather unusual source. Uh-oh… is his girlfriend Selena Gomez next?
The rather sassy Sharon Osbourne has no problem speaking her mind, and she may feel qualified to offer commentary about young artists like Bieber given her husband Ozzy Osbourne’s longtime heavy metal music career. And the former X Factor UK and America’s Got Talent judge is giving the Biebs a huge thumbs down and a definite big red “X.”
“For me, Justin is…I’ve met him, I’ve worked with him, I did a TV commercial with him. He’s a really great little guy. But that’s his problem. He’s a little guy,” she said at the National Radio conference in Sydney, as Sugarscape reports. “His fans are growing up, they’re eighteen, nineteen year olds now… And he still looks like that little boy! He needs some hair, or something.”
She is certainly not impressed with Justin Bieber, but her opinion seems to rest more on his physical appearance than his talent and his accomplishments, which only makes her comments more insulting. As a final blow, mama Osbourne added, “I just don’t think from my gut, maybe my guts wrong ‘cos it’s not a hundred per cent, but I don’t think he’s going to stand the test of time.”
Ouch. Wonder what she thinks about his girlfriend, Selena Gomez? Based on her view of Bieber, Sharon Osbourne probably would be of the opinion that Gomez needs to move onward and upward and get a new guy.
Maybe Bieber will “stand the test of time,” maybe he won’t. But the 18-year-old pop sensation has shown he has an awareness of the need to mature with his fans, while still appealing to the younger teeny-bopper set. He’s changed up his look with a slick coif, has put out more mature vocals and has dressed in leather-clad, rap-star ensembles to match. And he’s constantly inking up with tattoos, perhaps in an effort to increase his edge even more. Now he just needs a growth spurt, and maybe he can make Osbourne a Belieber.
