Justin Bieber Related to ’50 Shades of Grey’ Movie Favorite for Christian?

Justin Bieber’s genes may just have proven that nature really is stronger than nurture. The pop sensation could possibly just have talent (and maybe even 50 Shades of Grey-worthy good looks!) in his blood. Of course, his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, probably already knew that.

Ancestry.com performed a recent examination into Bieber’s family tree, and the genealogy website has confirmed that the “Boyfriend” singer is related to some equally bold names on the entertainment scene. It’s fascinating, really. Fellow Canadian pop-punk singer Avril Lavigne is his 12th cousin, and even more interestingly, he and superstar songstress Celine Dion are 10th cousins three times removed, as Daily Mail reports. Lavigne, Bieber and Dion really couldn’t be more different when it comes to their singing style, but they all certainly share the gift of impressive vocal chords.

File:Justin Bieber April 2011.jpgBieber can apparently count a hot-shot movie star as his relative, too. Big-screen heart-throb Ryan Gosling, who also happens to be a fan favorite for the lead role of Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E.L. James risqué read, 50 Shades of Grey, is his 11th cousin once removed. Bieber ironically recently joked he had been approached to be in the flick, but his teeny-bopper image wouldn’t be a great fit for the lead role. However, there’s a chance he could fill the part of the younger Christian during flashback scenes. That aside, perhaps his connection to Gosling bodes well for a future crossover acting career for Bieber—much like his girl Selena Gomez, who has been starring in movies such as Spring Breakers.

But does Justin Bieber’s family tree bolster the hypothesis that there really could be a “superstar gene”? An Ancestry.com researcher, Michelle Ercanback, said Bieber’s famous links might not be sufficient proof. But she also added, “‘The great thing about family history is that you never know what you’re going to find. It was a very pleasant surprise.”
