Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux have been engaged for a couple of weeks but so far there haven’t been any photos of the ring. Right after the engagement announcement, Life & Style (which should always be taken with a boulder of salt) ran a report estimating that the ring was 8 carats and claiming that it was “a huge emerald-cut diamond” with “tapered diamond baguettes on the sides.”
But according to a new report in Us Weekly (via Celebitchy.com), the ring, designed by Justin, is actually “understated” — and Jennifer has been “proudly flaunting” it on the set of the movie she’s currently shooting.
“She’s been very happy and girlie about it,” an “insider” tells the mag, adding that the ring is “pretty, but not that huge.”
“Not that huge” = smaller than Jennifer was expecting? Reading between the lines, probably. But that’s not the case according to a “second pal,” who says that the Emmy winner (who Us Weekly hilariously tries to claim is “low-maintenance”) doesn’t need a “big bauble as proof of Justin’s love” — because she thinks they’re astrologically compatible (eye roll).
“Jen is really into astrology,” Us Weekly‘s snitch says. “Justin is a Leo, which she thinks is a good match for her. … [He] is the rock she needs in her life” — unlike her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, who as a Sagittarius “did not match with her in that sense.”
Wow, that’s really grasping at straws to pick on Brad Pitt for his astrological sign.
At any rate, there’s no word on when she’ll show off her ring in public. It’s been two weeks since the proposal, and paparazzi have swarmed her movie set, so there have been plenty of opportunities for her to be “low maintenance” and just let one of them get the money shot. But she’s been deliberately hiding her left hand. Maybe she’s waiting to debut it when she’s a guest on Ellen in a couple of weeks? Or maybe she’s got an exclusive with People? Either way, she can’t hide the ring for much longer.
