The AP is calling today Tan Tuesday but, according to New Jersey’s governor, we really should be calling it quits on MTV’s Jersey Shore. If you’re thinking that everybody in New Jersey is enjoying the show and loving The Situation, you are sadly mistaken. According to Governor Chris Christie, all he has to say is “Stay out!”
Today the cast showed up at the Stock Exchange and rang the opening bell. The second season of the reality series premieres Thursday in Miami before coming back north to Seaside Heights. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie discussed his lack of love for JWoww and Pauly D on ABC News on Sunday:
Christie stated that the show “takes a bunch of New Yorkers, drops them at the Jersey Shore and tries to make America feel like this is New Jersey.” And he is right about that–Pauly DÂ hails from Rhode Island, Snooki from downstate New York, Ronnie the Bronx, The Situation and Vinny from Staten Island.
Besides, cultural organizations have denounced the show for being egregiously derogatory to Italian-Americans. Do you think of Pauly and Snooki and JWoww as offensive characters or just run-of-the-mill publicity hounds who got a shot at being on TV and have decided to take it for all its worth?? Will you be watching the premiere??
